Iran Cinema Verite announces winners

The 11th edition of Cinema Verite has announced the winners of various sections of the event, which was held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The closing ceremony of the festival was held on Sunday in Tehran, with mention of honorable winners of selected works.

In the International Competition (Mid-Length Documentaries), ‘Lotus’ directed by Mohammadreza Vatandoust won two awards.

The best Full Length Documentary award went to ‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’ by Reza Farahmand. Meanwhile, the award for best Mid-Length Documentary went to ‘BOLINGO. The Forest of Love’ directed by Alejandro Salgado from Spain. Afsaneh Salari won the best Short Documentary award for ‘No Man's Land’ in the International Competition section.

In the national competition section, the best music award went to Afshin Azizi for ‘Finding Farideh’, while Fathollah Amiri and Nima Askari won the best short documentary directing award for ‘The Ranger’. Also, the award for best Full Length Documentary directing went to Reza Farahmand for ‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’.

The Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) organized the 11th edition of Cinema Verite in Tehran.

The DEFC is the largest center for production, distribution and promotion of documentary, animated and experimental pictures in the Middle East.

Iran's Cinema Verite aims, among other objectives, to promote creative documentary and reinforce the link between documentary cinema and social facts and events.
